Hands, Hearts, and Smiles
By Brenda Truhe of Lutheran Church of the Holy Spirit, Emmaus
- Making cards for various recipients, including recipients of bouquets as part of our Bloomin’ Faith ministry
- Hand tying dozens of homemade quilts given to Family Promise and Turning Point organizations
- Cleaning up and preparing the church garden which produces bushels and bushels for fresh produce throughout the growing season for a local food bank
- Collecting back packs for children in the local foster care system
- Painting Kindness Rocks as a reminder of the power of kindness
- Collecting and sorting used crayons to be recycled by the Crayon Initiative and distributed to hospitalized children
Over 100 people joyfully participated in a variety of service projects at the Lutheran Church of the Holy Spirit (LCHS) on Sunday October 6th, 2024 as part of the annual God’s Work Our Hands day of service.
This year’s projects included:
- Collecting and packaging snack bags for people at Laundry on Linden
- Collecting and filling Activity bags for the LV Reilly Children’s Hospital
- Creating reusable bags by recycling t-shirts
The LCHS coordinator for God’s Work Our Hands said she never ceases to be amazed by her church families’ breadth and depth of giving of their time and talents to help others. So many individuals came together to share smiles and skills and participate in the variety of projects from the children’s groups, catechism groups, Rejoicing Spirits and others to make a difference for those in need.
Thank you, LCHS, for your story
