This past July, St. John’s Gernant’s Church in Leesport came together for a heartfelt outreach called “Christmas in July.” Throughout the month, members collected over 400 household necessities to support Blessed Beginnings, an organization dedicated to helping individuals starting over after abuse. Blessed Beginnings provides baskets filled with about 50 essential items—including a Bible—with the hope of encouraging and uplifting those facing difficult circumstances.

Through this effort, the congregation clearly witnessed God’s presence moving among them. They saw how God inspires them to serve others, especially those in need. When they first learned about Blessed Beginnings’ mission and its needs, the response from the church community was immediate and heartfelt. It was a powerful moment of unity and commitment, as members opened their hearts and gave generously to support this cause.

This experience strengthened their faith and challenged them to continue living out the teachings of Jesus by stepping up to meet the needs around them. It reminded them that when a need arises, their congregation will respond with compassion and dedication, embodying Christ’s love in action.

“Christmas in July” was more than just a collection drive—it served as a vivid reminder that faith grows stronger when shared through service, and that together, the people of St. John’s can bring hope and encouragement to those who need it most.
