- Open and distributed on a quarterly rolling basis

6261 Microgrants were initially made possible from a 2025 CaSTLE grant from Wartburg Seminary for our ecumenical 6261 Ministry Communities.  Due to ongoing demand, the NEPA Synod has made another round of 6261 Microgrants available.

6261 Microgrants remain small grants for up to $1,500 to assist areas exploring forming a 6261 Ministry Community as well as Covenanted 6261 Ministry Communities needing a little seed-money for their primary ministry project.  While we still celebrate our ecumenical 6261 Ministry Communities, the 6261 Microgrants are no longer restricted to ecumenical 6261 Ministry Communities so that any area discerning or living into a 6261 Ministry Community across the Synod is eligible to apply.

Applications will be reviewed by the 6261 Microgrants Team on a quarterly rolling basis.

Download an application below.  For more information on the application process, instructions, eligibility, and 6261 Microgrant examples, please download the “6261 Microgrants Instructions & Examples” document below.

Completed 6261 Microgrant applications should be emailed or mailed to the NEPA Synod office.

- Now Open

These 6261 grants are intended as start-up support funds for 6261 Ministry Communities as they embark on this new model of being Church together.  The Synod wants to support 6261 Ministry Communities – as part of the Synod’s commitment to making 6261 a priority – and recognizes that trying new things and moving into stronger collaboration takes both an element of bold faith and financial undergirding.

Any Covenanted 6261 Ministry Community of the NEPA Synod can apply for a 6261 Ministry Community Grant.  This includes 6261 Ministry Communities who are made up of ELCA and full-Communion ecumenical congregations.  It also includes 6261 Ministry Communities who are formed across Synod and ecumenical judicatory lines.

Grants are intended to be start-up ministry funds and not ongoing or used for sustainability purposes.  Therefore, at this time, each 6261 Ministry Community may apply only once for a 6261 Ministry Community Grant.  Each 6261 Ministry Community can apply for a grant up to the amount of $15,000.

Applications will be reviewed by the 6261 Ministry Community Grants Team on a quarterly rolling basis.

ELCA Collaborative Ministry Grants

– Open and distributed on a quarterly basis through the ELCA Ministry Review Table

The ELCA offers Collaborative Ministry Grants of up to $5,000 to congregations who are doing collaborative ministry together.  Any 6261 Ministry Community is eligible to apply for this category of grant.  Congregations not in a 6261 Ministry Community but who are doing collaborative ministry are also eligible to apply.  Due to limited ELCA funds and the desire to spread funds across the ELCA, these grants must be applied for through consultation with the Director for Evangelical Mission (DEM).  If you would like to learn more or apply for this type of grant, please contact Dcn. Kat Tigerman, the DEM for the NEPA Synod.
