At Holy Trinity Lutheran Church in Dingmans Ferry, Pennsylvania, faith took root—literally—during a recent gathering of the Lutheran Youth Fellowship (LYF) and Confirmation Class. Under the guidance of retired Pastor Joe Veres, a master gardener, the youth planted over 100 tomato seedlings on April 12.

This initiative wasn't merely about gardening, but a tangible expression of compassion. The tomatoes are being cultivated with the intention of providing fresh produce later this year to recipients of Holy Trinity’s Food Pantry. As Pastor Joe shared his gardening wisdom, he also nurtured a spirit of generosity and stewardship among the young participants.

This project embodies the principles of loving, healing, and engaging like Jesus. By addressing food insecurity, the youth are demonstrating love through service. The act of growing and sharing food contributes to healing within the community, both physically and spiritually. Engagement is evident as the youth connect with community needs, putting their faith into action.

Holy Trinity's Lutheran Youth Fellowship (LYF) is a vibrant and welcoming community where high school students come together to grow in faith, friendship, and service. Designed to meet the unique needs and interests of teenagers, the group offers a variety of engaging activities, including fun events and community service projects. Led by dedicated and compassionate leaders, LYF provides a safe and supportive environment for high schoolers to explore their beliefs, ask questions, and develop a deeper relationship with God.
