Three New Lead Staff Positions

By the love of God, the call of Christ, and the unity of the Holy Spirit – the Northeastern Pennsylvania Synod (NEPS) of the Evangelical Lutheran Church in America (ELCA) seeks three highly qualified and creative leaders to serve God in bold ways, alongside Bishop Christopher deForest, the Bishop’s Staff, and the Synod Council. Our purpose: to connect communities and congregations for life-giving mission and ministry, so they can love like Jesus, heal like Jesus, and engage like Jesus – growing young, gaining strength, and going beyond death to life.

These three new lead staff roles will work in concert with a fourth Lead Servant, Deacon Kat Tigerman, whose role focuses on a new kind of dynamic shared ministry called “6261.” The NEPA Synod team also includes a strong and experienced Coordinating Staff, Director of Communications, and Director of Operations.

The Bishop and the four-person Lead Servant Team will be highly interactive and collaborative, among themselves and with all Synod Leadership. Creativity and innovation are valued, respected, and unleashed here. Along with providing vital support to congregations and leaders, these leaders will also get to move forward the new goals and strategies our Synod has named, to follow Christ boldly into the future. For full details on these goals and strategies, go to our Synod website for our “Strategic Intent”: godslove.org/2025-strategic-intent/.
