2026 Chrism Mass & Affirmation of Call
Together in Word and Oil
Bishop Christopher deForest invites all Northeastern Pennsylvania Synod Deacons, Pastors, and Licensed Lay Ministers to gather for a Chrism Mass and Affirmation of Call. To make participation more accessible, the synod will host three services across the region on different dates.
Each Chrism Mass will begin at 11:00 a.m.
A luncheon will follow as a free gift to our beloved leaders.

What is a Chrism Mass?
This worship service is an ancient tradition, gathering to bless our Rostered Ministers and those who serve in called and appointed leadership roles within our congregations, organizations, and worshiping communities. Eucharist will be offered, and the calls and appointments of these leaders will be affirmed through prayer, proclamation, and anointing.
