Deacon Kathleen (Kat) Tigerman earned her BA in French and International Service from Valparaiso University and her MATS (MA in Theological Studies) from the Lutheran School of Theology at Chicago with emphases in Biblical Studies and Environmental Justice. She also speaks Spanish conversationally. The Lutheran Deaconess Association consecrated Kat as a deaconess in 2012, and she became a rostered Deacon with the ELCA in 2016.
She has worked for a variety of churches and nonprofit organizations, both domestic and abroad. Most recently she served as the first Executive Director for The House Next Door, a non-profit ministry started by Grace Episcopal Church in Nampa, Idaho and as Co-Executive Director of Shalom Hill Farm, a spiritual retreat center in Windom, Minnesota.
She is passionate about serving marginalized populations and finding creative ways to do ministry together. Kat also enjoys spending time outdoors with her family and farm animals, doing puzzles, and trying to keep up her basketball and ultimate frisbee skills.
Deacon Tigerman will begin her call as DEM for NEPS on April 3, 2023. We welcome her to Northeastern Pennsylvania Synod!
