From early June to early July, Holy Trinity Lutheran Church in Dingmans Ferry brought their youth ministry to life through a powerful three-part experience known as the annual Youth Ministry Trifecta. This deeply rooted tradition is more than a series of events; it’s a transformational journey that connects young people and adults through adventure, prayer, community service, and shared faith.

The first part of the trifecta kicked off with the High Adventure Trip for high school youth and adult leaders. This year, participants traveled to the breathtaking Adirondack Mountains of New York. Against the backdrop of rugged landscapes and rushing rivers, the group shared meals, pitched tents, and bonded through white-water rafting. The trip centered on the theme "Walking the Kindness Road Together", which was reinforced through daily reflections, a shared musical CD, and intentional acts of kindness throughout the journey. It was in nature and in one another that they saw the face of God through laughter, encouragement, and shared challenges.

Next came the C.I.T. (Counselors in Training) Weekend, a dynamic leadership training experience that prepared middle and high school youth to work with younger children during Vacation Bible Camp. The weekend included two nights sleeping at the church, a group river trip on the Delaware, and a rich rhythm of Taizé evening prayer. These youth not only learned leadership skills but also developed deeper spiritual grounding and a sense of mission. Each session strengthened their connection to God and to one another as they reflected on how they could embody kindness in practical and meaningful ways.

The final piece of the trifecta was Vacation Bible Camp, a joyful and energetic week where older youth and adult volunteers teamed up to share the love of Jesus with young campers. Through storytelling, crafts, music, and plenty of laughter, the message of kindness was woven into every part of the camp. Youth who had journeyed together through the earlier phases now stepped into roles of leadership and mentorship, modeling compassion and care as they served the youngest members of the community.

Throughout all three events, the Holy Trinity community experienced God’s presence in nature, in shared mission, in prayer, and in each other. The commitment to Walking the Kindness Road Together wasn’t just a theme; it became a lived reality. Random acts of kindness flowed naturally, and youth discovered that kindness given often circles back in return. The time spent traveling, playing, praying, eating, and serving together didn’t just deepen relationships; it deepened faith.

Holy Trinity’s Youth Ministry Trifecta continues to shape a generation of young people who are not only connected to their faith but actively living it out in love, healing, and engagement, just like Jesus.
