P/T Director of Music (11/18) - St Peter’s Lutheran Church (1422 Church Rd, Pen Argyl, PA 18072) is seeking a part-time Director of Music. This candidate will coordinate the music life of our community in coordination with the Pastor and Worship & Music Committee, direct our choir(s) in rehearsal and worship, and lead our worship’s musical life as an organist and pianist for two Sunday morning services as well as special services throughout the year (Ash Wednesday, Holy Thursday, Good Friday, Christmas Eve, etc.) Expectations are for approximately 20-25 hours/week, with salary negotiable based on experience and qualifications upon hiring. Qualifications include prior work experience, proficiency in playing organ, piano, and keyboard, and strong choral conducting skills. Candidates should also have familiarity with executing a variety of musical genres and the ability to incorporate them in a worship setting, possess excellent communication, planning, and executive skills, and show commitment to the mission and values of the Christian church and the larger work of the E.L.C.A. Part-time Director of Music/Organist (11/18) - Trinity Evangelical Lutheran Church, Bechtelsville, PA 19505. Seeking Part-time Director of Music/Organist to nurture the spiritual growth of the congregation through leadership in worship and musical ministry. Currently the congregation is worshiping at one traditional worship service with a choir each week. This is a part-time position for 12 to 16 hours per week. Anticipated start date May of 2026.

Key Responsibilities: - Provide organ/piano music for weekly Sunday worship, special, and seasonal services during the Christmas and Easter seasons.

  • Direct the music program which includes one vocal choir, consult as needed to our three-octave bell choir (directed by a volunteer)
  • Direct and rehearse the Adult Choir, accompany and rehearse with soloists and special instrumentalists that play on occasion (brass and flute groups, etc.)
  • Collaborate with Pastor and Worship and Music committee
  • Provide music for weddings and funerals (honorarium basis)

Qualifications:

  • Proficiency in organ and piano
  • Leadership and interpersonal skills
  • Experience as a church musician a plus
  • Must pass required background checks

Compensation:

  • Salary ranges from $13,000 to $14,000, plus honorariums for weddings and funerals

The pews from The Lutheran Center are available to congregations until September 15, after which they will be made available to the general public. Removal from the current location at The Lutheran Center, 2354 Grove Rd, Allentown is the responsibility and expense of the requesting congregation. Standard and seat pews are on the main level of the building with no stairs. The choir loft pews are up one floor and require removal via stairway (photo here).
