Event Overview

Overall theme is "Feeding God's Children." There are 6 individual projects related to tackling food insecurity locally to globally. Aug & Sept food drive for local Hellertown Area Food bank; Sept 19th Drive-thru food collection at church for local Hellertown food bank & church's Blessing Box; Sept 20th Brunch donations to 2nd Harvest of Lehigh Valley regional food distributor, Grab n Go bags for New Bethany Community Outreach, Family Meal kits for church's blessing box, and Donation envelopes for ELCA World Hunger global initiative.

Participant Information

Is the project open to others outside your congregation? 

Community may participate in Drive-thru food collection Sept 19th event or donation of non-perishable food being collected Aug & Sept internally, Learning Center, and church members hosting a collection box in their place of business. Our church has enough volunteers to manage individual events.

 

Do participants need to register ahead of time?

No

 

Are there age restrictions or family-friendly considerations?

Saturday, Sept 19th Drive-thru food collection will be a service project for our church's Confirmation students.

 

What will be provided by the congregation or host site?

Brunch is free to any GWOH volunteer. All donations received at brunch will be donated to a designated beneficiary: 2nd Harvest.

 
 
Will there be a worship component tied to this day?
GWOH Worship service Sept 20th, followed by a brunch with donations going to 2nd Harvest Food Bank, then the completion of Family Meal kits & Grab n Go bags.
