Reformation 500 – Lutheran-Roman Catholic Joint Events
Repentance, Reconciliation and Common Mission
At the synod assembly in June, voting members experienced a liturgy of “Repentance, Reconciliation and Common Mission” led by Bishop Zeiser and the RCC Bishop of the Scranton Diocese, Bishop Joseph Bambera. This liturgy is based on “Common Prayer: From Conflict to Communion,” a Lutheran/Roman Catholic commemoration of the 500th Anniversary of the Reformation in Lund, Sweden on October 31, 2016 – presided over by Pope Francis and Bishop Munib Younan of the Lutheran World Federation.
This liturgy is available for local use as neighboring congregations of the ELCA and RCC plan their own Reformation commemoration events this fall. You may download the liturgy as a Word document or PDF. The full liturgy and instructions for its use are available on the web site of the Lutheran World Federation.
