Constructive Conversations in Difficult Situations
Navigating Differences – Preserving Relationships
A One-Day Workshop for NEPS Rostered Ministers and Congregation Members
These are turbulent times. Anger, suspicion and negativity seem to dominate public discourse and seep into our private conversations within families, communities of faith, friendships, workplaces and neighborhoods.
In this day together we will explore positive ways that we can stay in relationship even as we discuss differences in beliefs. We will learn and practice ways to affirm our own deeply held values while staying open to values and concerns which appear at odds with our own. We will discover tools to express ourselves clearly, listen sincerely and engage those who disagree with us in thoughtful, firm and empathetic ways, being mindful that there is that of God in each person. We will engage in spiritual readings and practices as well as communication and conflict resolution skill development.
Workshop Leader is Mary Lou Hatcher
Leader in the Bethlehem Friends Meeting and National Workshop Leader
Sponsored by NEPS Spirituality Team and Center for Spiritual Awakening at Christ Lutheran, Allentown
